Dublin: The Land of L̶e̶p̶r̶e̶c̶h̶a̶u̶n̶s̶ Guinness

I can't believe it is November already! Time really flies here, which is a good thing because that means I am really busy, and if you aren't busy then you aren't doing your study abroad trip right :). I took a break from traveling out of the country in October, but now I'll be gone 3 out of 4 weekends. I just got back today from a wee weekend trip to Dublin, but before I get to that I have some other ground to cover. This may be a long one folks, sorry about that! I always say I'll post weekly but usually blog posts don't happen unless someone (in this case, shout out to my dad!) remind me that for some people this is the only way they hear about what's going on in my life (sorry mom.. but it's not my fault you don't have skype, right?).
Anyways, let's do a little recap of things that have happened since the last time I posted:
  • Kim Kardashian got married. Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce. (had to throw in a KimmyK joke, right?)
  • The Giants beat the Patriots- woooooot wooooot! Also, found a pub in Ireland that was playing the game last night so I finally got to see my boys play <3.
  • Daylight savings time happened.. which in most people's worlds isn't a huge deal aside from the fact they get an extra hour of sleep, however in Scotland this translates to the sun starting to set around 4PM... very strange
  • I visited St Andrews which is a quaint town on the east coast of Scotland. We got to see a little bit of the University, the St Andrews Castle and the Cathedral where St Andrews is buried. Unfortunately, there were no Wills/Kate sightings :/

Also, I have crossed-off a bunch of Edinburgh tourist attractions off my list. For example:

1. Eat Haggis: It happened. It won't happen again. Don't ask me what's in it.

2. Ghost Tour. Edinburgh is know for its vaults which lie underneath the city. Originally, they were used as a place where merchants could go and trade goods, but as the story goes the merchants gradually moved out and into the streets and a different, not entirely respectable group of people started to inhabit the vaults. We went on the tour Halloween weekend, so it was extra spooky. Also, I was especially glad to find out that the vaults are literally right underneath my flat. How special.

3. Scottish Whisky Experience. Scotch is obviously a huge deal in Scotland, so I went on a whisky tour which houses the largest collection of Scottish Whisky in the world, seriously walls and walls full of all different types of brands. I also got to try a glass from the Highland region of Scotland- it's probably not going to become my drink of choice but it wasn't the worst thing ever.

4. Arthur's Seat: Just a wee mountain on the outskirts of Edinburgh which gives a gorgeous view of the city. Only problem, instead of taking the nice stroll up the one side of the hill that most people take, my friends and I took the path less traveled, which basically meant we were climbing straight up for about 45 minutes. And I thought the Grand Canyon was hard...

Well, I had said that I would talk about Dublin in this post, but I had to catch a 6:30AM flight this morning so I'm a wee bit tired. I'll do my best to post again tomorrow though. Stay tuned for an explanation of the word wee, a summary of Dublin and probably a complete re-edit of this post. Cheers!
